The Silicon Valley boom in the late 90s set out the population migrating from the huge manufacturing areas of Detroit, Michigan popularly owned by the pride of the Big 3 - GM, Ford, and FCA.
The 2000s have seen a paradigm shift of focus from Detroit to West, for better living and opportunities, and as they say, there is always a buzz in the Valley of the rise and crash of startups, from onboarding VC's to them filing lawsuits against the startups for fraudulent activities pretty much sums up the creative, confidential and cash-rich activities in the valley.
Why is the valley again in the spotlight? Any scandal? Any bankruptcies or is there a Top secret project capturing headlines?
This time, we host the Tech Giant in our topic - Apple Inc.
Is it Iphone 14 or Macbook Air M(2?) - Noooooooooo.s
Would it be fair to say Apple might compete with Tesla? not in Dow Jones, if you still think Tesla is entering the communication market - you would not expect that. But what would it be if we say Apple starts designing and manufacturing Cars? are you paranoid? not me though but yes the ones at Apple working on this. Without a further a do .. Yes, it's not particularly surprising from the Valley's POV but surprising from the company's POV to enter the mobility segment.
Apple did partner with Volkswagen to develop driverless shuttles for the daily commute of its employee to Cupertino which seemingly worked. But will it push the other Commercial Automotive companies off the market? not in the near future for sure. This although provides the vision or the concept that would be part of the future commute possibilities.
Coming to the Project Titan - Apple has registered close to 60 cars and a little over 100 drivers to test these since the fall of 2015. It is still working on the hardware and the software along with regular road trials validating its product. Still seems a bleak attempt, but considering the spending budget and the creative heads at Apple, it can't be ignored.
As Elon says "building a car is easy but mass producing is the real challenge". So is Apple in the market with a thought to manufacture the cars in million or will it qualify to even have a road-legal vehicle? that's a far fetched question?
